Roulette. Do you know how to play? Can YOU beat the odds, or evens? Find out.

Ahh, yes. Roulette. The casino. The machines pumping its sounds of joy. The big lights, the screen and the live of it all. You lose all your money or gain some. But you already know what game I speak upon. Roulette is just a simple game, or is it?

Roulette is one of, if not, the most played and popularized games when you strut your way inside a casino. But did you know that this addicting, exciting attraction was first invented in the 18th century in France? Probably not. Hence the name, roulette, which means “little wheel” in the french language. This game has been played ever since the first time in 1796 in Paris. Roulette is a very complex game that toys and tears your mind apart. With a bit of luck by your side, you could be going home richer than you came in, or so you may think.

Roulette is usually a croupier, and the player. The definition of a croupier is a dealer who assists in the conduct and the momentum of a game, in which they are responsible in distribution of payouts and bets. The player gets to place a bet, or bets, on a specific number of their choice or even a range from numbers; the numbers are high or low and/or odd and even. 19–36 are considered to be high numbers and 1–18 are low numbers. They are black and red on the “little wheel”

Now, since you have placed a bet out on a number, what happens next? In order to win or lose (and we hope you come out as champion), the croupier is to spin the wheel in one direction, then spin the ball in the opposite direction. As this happens, you’ll be sweating up an ocean, so be sure to wear deodorant! It’s rotations of opposite ways will stop the momentum of the wheel spinning and will eventually stop and land on a number. Hope you got your number!

Now since you know how to play it, and you know what it means, let me take you down to history lane. Did you know the exact description of the game in it’s current form, comes from a french novel named “La Roulette, ou le Jour” by Jaques Lablee? It talks about a roulette wheel, or a little wheel, in the Palais Royal located in Paris, France. There were many confusions in the colors in this game, that the color green was added for all the zeros once the 1800s reached it’s peek. American roulette took over that same century and thus the casino roulette was born.

If you wanna know something crazy, is the odds of winning this game are pretty slim, but not as slim as there has been testimonies of people winning. They’re winning at life, too! So, what are the odds of you beating this game and rubbing it in it’s face? MATH. Yup! Math. What it really comes down to is probability. Probability that you won’t screw up your ticket to riches. The probability of it all changing your life, or not. Math IS a huge part of your life. Because you can break down the probabilities of winning on a red or black number. Well, let’s break it down a little. The basic…stuff.

If it’s an odd number: here’s the ratio. Odd number, ratio: 1:1. So your probabilities of actually gaining some bread (money in slang) will be roughly about 46.37%. Let’s say you bet on an even number instead. Wouldn’t it be the same? There’s the same amount of even and odd numbers, so the ratio will be 1:1 and 46.37% are your chances of retiring early.

We are gonna get complex on ya!

What if you bet just a single number? It doesn’t matter if it’s odd or even. Your chances drop so low that the devil might hear a thump. The ratio of a single number is 35:1 which concludes that your chances on ditching everyone you know will be down to literally 2.63%. People have dared to take this risk, oh man!

But this game is so addicting, fun, and exciting that when you go to the casino, you are sure to sit down and play. Roulette is a game unlike any other, and if you don’t try it, then why are you at the casino?
